Co-extrusion of PVC WPC(Wood plastic composite) Will Replace PE/PP WPC as a New Trend of Outdoor Landscape Materials

PE/PP WPC products in outdoor applications often appear a series of problems, such as rupture, bending, heat bilges cold shrink,deformation and faded. and shrinkage rate of PVC is only 0.2 to 0.6%, the shrinkage rate of PE is 1.5 ~ 3.6% , the shrinkage rate of PP is 1.0 ~ 2.5%, indicating that PVC has better geometric dimensional stability, and PVC material has non-flammability, high strength, weatherability and excellent geometric stability, PVC has a strong resistance to oxidant, reductant and strong acid.

Why are currently outdoor WPC products mainly PE/PP WPC products, while PVC WPC products are rarely used?

1. The raw material cost of the PVC WPC product is high: PE/PP WPC products used by PE/PP material is more than three times of recycle material, which is low price, PE/PP melt fluidity is good (Experiments proved that the melt fluidity is good after reusing for more than 6 times ), calcium powder filling volume can be higher than PVC 10 ~ 20, with a thick wood powder (60 mesh) can produce.At present, the finished density of PE/PP wood-plastic products is usually 1.42~1.45. PVC micro-foamed  products must use new materials, but the amount of filler is still lower than PE/PP wood-plastic, and the use of fine wood powder (usually 100 mesh), or it is difficult to extrude. the microfoaming density of PVC WPC products is usually 0.95~1.05, and the foaming density is usually 0.60~0.65.

2, PVC WPC manufacturing cost is high: PVC melt fluidity is poor, PVC WPC processing techenology requirements are high, the requirements to the mold and screw are high, the overall manufacturing cost is much higher than PE/PP WPC. So the price of PVC WPC is much higher than that of PP/PE, which is difficult to be accepted by the market.

3, PVC wood-plastic products to reduce the cost, the only way is to use the foaming process to reduce the density of the product. At present, the market for indoor decoration of ecological wood are using PVC WPC foaming process.But foam is too big, strength is reduced, due to the misdirection of partial manufacturer and Insufficient consumer awareness, often will this kind of product is also used in outdoor project, than the PE/PP WPC are more likely to fade, bending, shrinkage, deformation and fracture and so on a series of problems, thus the PE/PP WPC products are subdued and users resist to use the PVC WPC products in outdoor.

4, a series of problems of the PE/PP WPC outdoor application, such as bending, shrinkage, deformation and fading have not been fundamentally solved, How to make the PVC WPC products play the advantage of PVC plastic itself, but not too high cost has become the research target of ambitious people.

6. The cost of such products is slightly higher than that of PE/PP wood-plastic, which is close to the outdoor quality level of ASA (currently recognized as the best outdoor plastic in the world).

With the market promotion of such co-extrusion PVC high-fiber wood-plastic materials, more and more users begin to understand the advantages of such products, and choose co-extrusion WPC(wood-plasticcomposite) products, the promotion of co-extrusion technology will bring about the upgrading of the entire wood-plastic industry technology.
